About Us

The Ship Vibration and Acoustics Laboratory is led by Dr. M. Erden Yıldızdağ from the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. The group’s research centers on developing novel and computationally efficient numerical methods for the analysis of fluid–structure interaction (FSI) in marine and offshore systems. With an emphasis on methodological innovation and computational performance, the laboratory delivers reliable tools that advance the safety, performance, and efficiency of next-generation ships and floating structures.

Research Highlights

  • Hydroelasticity of Marine Structures – Modeling and simulation of vibration and wave-induced responses in ships and offshore platforms.

  • Computational Model Development – Isogeometric analysis (IGA), spectral element method (SEM), and boundary element method (BEM) tailored for FSI.

  • Acoustics and Vibration – Prediction and control of structural vibration and underwater noise.

  • Optimization and Design – Simulation-driven approaches for lightweight, efficient, and robust structural configurations.
